Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Satan will attack your mind even using the Word of God to confuse you. Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may
eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: We are not told in the Word that God said neither shall you touch it. Did the woman add these words on her own, did Adam tell her, or did God tell her this is unknown. However one would certainly have to touch it to eat it. Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: Here we have the first sin of the found in the Word. A lie. Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat
thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing
good and evil. One can conclude Adam was there also as we are told Adam was with her when she took and did eat. Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and
they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and
made themselves aprons. Even today when we sin/do wrong against God or others, many times we try to hide the truth by keeping our sins secret. Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said
unto him, Where art thou? Adam gets a chance to explain himself. Gen 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest
to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. The woman gets a chance to explain herself to God. Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent,
Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above
every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt
thou eat all the days of thy life: There was no chance for the serpent/satan to explain himself. He was the source of the sin and God knew that Satan would not repent. This also is the first mention of the coming of Jesus Christ. Another way to say this is there will be a descendant of the woman who will crush Satan, but Satan will cause pains for that child. This is the telling of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply
thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children;
and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. There is punishment for sin. God actually tells us the penalty of sin is death. Rom 6:23 Gen 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because
she was the mother of all living. The first blood sacrifice to cover sins was done by God. God made them coats of skins from animals. Later we will learn that Jesus was the final blood sacrifice to cover all sins. Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is
become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth
his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
Later we will learn that this was washed away in during the global flood of Noah's time. |
