Study Index

This study will begin with the New Testament. This is based on my studies. Please remember the Word of God to study to show thyself approved ( 2 Tim 2:15 ).

Starting with Matthew 1:1-17 The Word Starts out with the Genealogy of Jesus Christ. I've put this first section starting with an image format to give you a better understanding of how the Genealogy was broken down.

On a side note you may have heard that the Bible Contradicts itself, with Matthew and Luke Genealogy being different. Many teach that Matthew side is Joseph side of the family and Luke's side is Mary's side of the family. I thought there was support for this in the; Talmud Yerushalmi mentioning "Mary daughter of Heli" . Talmud Yerushalmi, Hag. chap.2, 11a. However what I found out upon investigation here . What I believe now to be the truth is the account by a third century Roman historian by the name of Eusebius of Caesarea who had a different take on the differences of the Luke and Matthews genealogy. ( You can watch the video below for Eusebius's explanation.)

Next Study Will Be Matthew 1:18-25

What is quite amazing about this section of the Word is that in Matthew 1:18 this tells us that Mary was a virgin which was predicted 700 years before Jesus birth in Isaiah 7:14. In Matthew 1:22 it refers to the Isaiah using the words 'the prophet' and what he prophecied 700 years earlier in Matthew 1:23.

In Matthew 1:24 what does took unto him his wife mean because in 1:25 we see he knew her not unitl after she had brought forth her firstborn son; Jesus? While not a fan of the NIV Bible I believe they got it right in their rendition: When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. From what I understand the tradition was for the espoused wife to remain at her parents home, so at this point he took her into his home and they lived together.
