Supposed Word (Bible) Contradictions Explained

Act 1:18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

Mat 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

The atheist proposes if he hung himself how could his guts gush out on the ground too. They say the Word contradicts itself cleary here. The answer to this supposed contradiction is found in Esther 6:4. Hanging in biblical times did not include a rope. What was used was sharp stakes/poles made from trees that were called gallows and you would be thrown down onto a pole and be impaled/hung on it. So Judas hanging himself did not include a rope. He just dove head first off the cliff and impaled/hung himself more than likely onto the trees below. History of impalement.

Est 6:4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

Est 7:9 And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon.
Est 7:10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified.

Ezra 6:11 Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

Other translations like the New Living Translation and NIV use impaled in place of hang.

Jer 17:4 And thou, even thyself, shalt discontinue from thine heritage that I gave thee; and I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not: for ye have kindled a fire in mine anger, which shall burn for ever.

Mic 7:18 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

Jeremiah states that the fire will last forever not that God's anger will last forever. This is evident in the Word forever. They are actually two different words used here. When looking at the Strongs definition you will see that in Jeremiah forever means until a time, where as Micah is refering to eternity.

Mar 15:25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

Joh 19:14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

The atheist says if the crucified him at 9am how could he be still alive at 12pm in front of pilate.

It is very simple Mark 15:25 (9am) uses Jewish time and John 19:14 (6am) uses Roman time. John uses Roman time as verified by John 4:52 where he uses the seventh hour. The seventh hour is not used in Jewish Time.

1Co 10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

Num 25:9 And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.

The atheist says see these figures contradict themselves. However the difference is Paul says 23,000 in one day as where Numbers took place on more than one day that is why the total is higher.

Gen 22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

Jas 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

The atheist says God tempted Abraham, yet God says he tempted no man. Which is it? In James God is referring to evil. God does not tempt any man with evil. I do believe atheist aren't seeking God and are blinded by Satan please pray for them to have the truth that they may be set free.
