1 PETER

The apostle Peter writes to encourage Christians enduring suffering and persecution, reminding them of their living hope in Jesus Christ.

He begins by emphasizing the eternal inheritance believers have through Christ's resurrection, which is kept in heaven for them. Peter urges readers to rejoice in trials, as they refine faith and bring glory to God.

Peter calls Christians to live holy lives, reflecting God's holiness, and to love one another deeply from a pure heart. He reminds them they have been redeemed not with perishable things but with the precious blood of Christ.

Believers are described as living stones being built into a spiritual house, chosen by God to proclaim His praises. Peter encourages submission to authorities, masters, and even within marriage, as a testimony to God's glory.

He exhorts readers to live with integrity, bless those who insult them, and be prepared to give an answer for their hope. Suffering for doing good is commendable before God, as Christ also suffered for sins once for all.

Peter concludes with encouragement to humble themselves under God's mighty hand, resist the devil, and stand firm in faith. He assures them of God's eternal grace and restoration after suffering.
