2 PETER
2 Peter is a letter written by the Apostle Peter to strengthen believers in their faith and guard them against false teachings. In the opening, Peter emphasizes the divine power granted to believers, enabling them to live godly lives through the knowledge of Christ. He encourages them to grow in virtues such as faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection, and love, promising that these qualities will keep them effective and fruitful in their faith.
Peter reminds his readers of the certainty of Christ's return and the reliability of Scripture, urging them to recall the teachings of the apostles and prophets. He warns against false teachers who will exploit others with destructive heresies, denying the Lord and leading many astray. Peter assures that God will judge the wicked while preserving the righteous, citing examples like Noah and Lot to illustrate His justice.
The letter concludes with an urgent reminder about the Day of the Lord, when Christ will return to bring judgment and establish a new heaven and new earth where righteousness dwells. Peter exhorts believers to live holy and blameless lives, remaining steadfast and growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. The letter ends with a doxology, glorifying Christ forever.
