Yo soy Rob

Welcome. I'm passionate about Jesus, motorsports, film, and finding meaning in life through faith in Christ. My journey has taken me from racing on tracks to exploring creative paths like filmmaking, web development, and sharing what I've learned about Jesus. I'm drawn to challenges, growth, and reflection—and I enjoy using my experiences to encourage others. This is an ongoing, sometimes unexpected journey, fueled by curiosity, faith, and a desire to help where I can.

Do I Still Race?

For the most part, no. I'll occasionally practice motocross or shifter karts when the opportunity comes up. My last time on a dirt bike was in 2023, and my last competitive shifter kart experience was around 2003. From time to time, I'll jump into indoor karting for short race or practice sessions.

I also sim race—primarily Formula 1—where I generally rank in the top 40-50% worldwide, with peaks reaching the top 1% during periods of focused training. Currently, I'm training in Formula 2 simulation cars, which strongly remind me of racing shifter karts: physically demanding, mentally intense, and requiring sustained focus.

Multi-Sport Athlete

In little league around the age of twelve I struck out 20 out of 21 twice, against the same team. The one batter was a friend of mine so took it easy on him. Eventually was invited to try out for the Dodgers and Yankees at a tryout at Rosenblatt stadium. I did not get drafted so went on to play at UNO college pitching against Creighton University and Dana, going on to being a letterman. Creighton offered me a half scholarship ride after my performance against them. I went on to play semi-pro town team baseball, pitching against the Omaha Angels and beating them 10-1. I eventually quit and took up dirt biking again after a gap of no riding from 1986 to 1991.

I also played intramural soccer when soccer first started in Blair, Nebraska. We would be on a team with girls and boys. We went undefeated with my dad as the coach and neighbor kid on the team. Also in little league my best buddy and I would go undefeated two seasons of T-ball team green. My best buddy and I would also team up with three other players, we would play forwards playing the 2/1/2 and went undefeated a season in basketball. This winning attitude would roll over to my sophomore year in football where we would win the schools only football state championship. We went 12-0, under the coaching of Mike Lehl in 1988. I was a reserve quarterback who played in the championship game. One of my teammates was Mike Ekler the well known special teams coach. He also played as my catcher in legion baseball. I could throw around 91mph, when Mike would get mad at me it seemed like he threw the ball back it me faster than I threw it to him.

Pro Karting - Formula Car

After pro-am motocross and a two year lay off of depression being away from racing we would take up karting. I'd win my very first shifter kart race and was told not to show up at the Rock Island Grand Prix on a stock YZ125 that we wouldn't even qualify being that I'd only done it a year, however we showed up qualified and did fairly well with a stock motor we were turning around 35 HP and competitors had 50HP motors. Eventually I'd earn a fully factory ride with Omega Karts and Australian company and we won every race we entered regionally and internationally winning a free three day formula school racing ride. I did not receive the ride like was supposed to however in trade of advertising on a website I started nationalkarting.com which got over 75,000 page visits a month, Jim Russell Racing out of Sonoma California, Sears Point Raceway at the time gave me a three day racing school in trade for advertising space. We went on to set the quickest lap times of the three day school. We continued to get better in karting and was recognized as the top privateer in the nation by a social media outlet. We qualifed on pole in Q1 of the 2002 RIGP King of Streets Shifterkart class, and was 9th all said done against the factory teams with future formula one driver Scott Speed qualifying 6th.
