Let's get practical, you can read all the self help books, listen to all the podcasts, watch all the Youtube motivation videos you want, but if you don't apply what you've learned and don't take action how do we really expect for things to be any different then how they have been. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results" -author unknown, sometimes attributed to Einstein. We all have been here or what is often referred to as a rut. The only way out of this rut is to change your thinking and give yourself a reason why you want to change or why you think you should change. Sometimes we are actually doing pretty good, but we are just bored with the same thing over and over again. The Eden Alternative states that the "three plagues of loneliness, helplessness, and boredom account for the bulk of suffering among our Elders." We believe this applies for all ages or basically any age when you start thinking for yourself and start to understand the way the world works. Often we think money is the answer to our problems and certainly money can play a role in all three of those if we don't have much money we may stay home more often, we might not be able to provide for our needs, or pay for activities that would be more fun then laying in our bed staring at the ceiling. We'll now that you're all pumped (sarcasm) why don't you give Step 1 a try and live life to the fullest.
No longer will I settle for the valley lows of my life. I'm going to pick myself up dust off my feet and start over no matter how many times it takes me to get to my peak performance. When I get there I'll enjoy the ride down the mountain, but this time when I return to the valley I'll be a new person one with confidence and experiences that I can share with the world. I'll enjoy the valley more and set my sights on new mountain tops and new peaks reaching for new experiences and new adventures, making relationships with people I've never met before and countries I've never been to. On my way up I'll make sure I stop get some rest, but not more then I need or deserve, the couch, the TV set, games and the bed will serve me and I will no longer serve them.
Thanks for taking a look!
