Wisdom

Whom To Serve

When Jesus teaches in Matthew six nineteen through twenty that earthly treasure fades while heavenly treasure endures, He is offering a path to a wiser and calmer life. The heart always follows what it seeks, and if the focus is set on what can vanish, the soul becomes anxious and unstable. But when the focus turns toward eternal things, the inner life grows steady and rich. Seeking things of heaven means valuing purity, mercy, humility, and truth above applause or comfort. It means choosing character over convenience and obedience over impulses. This pursuit forms a foundation that storms cannot break.

Wisdom also asks us to consider whom we serve. In Colossians three twenty three we are called to work with wholehearted devotion as unto the Lord and not merely for human approval. People may overlook effort or forget acts of kindness, but God sees every unseen moment. When our work becomes worship, even ordinary tasks gain purpose. Folding laundry, preparing food, building a website, or offering a gentle word can all shine with meaning when done for Him. This frees the heart from resentment and lifts simple responsibilities into joyful service.

Colossians three seventeen widens the scope further by calling us to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus. This means more than whispering His name; it means acting in His character. Speaking with honesty, choosing patience when irritated, offering forgiveness when wronged, and showing compassion when weary all reflect His presence. Nothing becomes too small for His touch, and nothing becomes too large for His strength.

John three sixteen reminds us why we serve this way. God loved the world so deeply that He gave His beloved Son so that whoever believes in Him receives life that never ends. If the heart is loved like that, it cannot remain the same. The right response to such love is trust, surrender, and imitation. We love because He first loved us. We forgive because He forgave us. We extend grace because we received grace beyond measure.

So what should we seek? Treasure that does not decay. What purpose should guide us? Serving the Lord with a willing and faithful heart. Wisdom grows when these truths shape decisions, habits, and hopes. A life built on eternal treasure and offered in service to Christ becomes a life of steady joy, deep peace, and unshakable purpose.

This kind of life does not appear instantly but grows through daily choices. Each moment of surrender, each act of kindness, each quiet prayer, and each refusal to chase empty rewards strengthens the soul. Over time the heart becomes shaped by the One it seeks, reflecting His light in life.
