HEBREWS

The book of Hebrews is a profound letter in the New Testament that emphasizes the supremacy of Jesus Christ. It presents Jesus as the ultimate revelation of God, surpassing the prophets and angels, and fulfilling the promises of the Old Testament. The author explains that Jesus is both the eternal High Priest and the perfect sacrifice, whose death and resurrection establish a new covenant between God and humanity.

The letter highlights the inadequacy of the old covenant, with its animal sacrifices and priestly rituals, to fully cleanse sin or bring people into a lasting relationship with God. Jesus’ sacrifice, however, is once-for-all, providing eternal redemption and access to God's presence. Hebrews calls believers to persevere in faith, drawing on the examples of faithful individuals from Israel’s history who trusted God despite challenges.

The letter also warns against falling away or hardening one’s heart, urging readers to remain steadfast in their faith and to encourage one another. It portrays faith as confidence in what is hoped for and assurance about unseen realities, grounded in Jesus' work and God’s promises. Ultimately, Hebrews exhorts believers to live faithfully, endure trials, and fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of their faith.
